"Seikilós, suggestioni di salsedine e di mare" is a Piano Solo Concept conceived as a collection of pieces from the four corners of the Mediterranean Sea.
"My Seikilós, I imagined him in taverns, in open-air markets, listening to the radio in a taxi, drenched in sweat and nostalgia"
The Concept (from which an album has been extracted that will soon be released) is based on a selection of pieces from various ancient musical traditions, united by their geographic origin, the Mediterranean area, and by the fact that I was fortunate enough to be able to hear their performance in the countries where they were conceived, being impressed and fascinated by them. "The transcriptions I have made, on which the concert programme is based, are therefore contaminated both by the memory I have of these performances and by my own artistic sensibility."
The aim is not to propose a concert/tribute to the various styles tackled (Rebetiko, Mandira, Neapolitan Song, Andalusian Traditional Music and Jewish Songs, to name but a few), but to highlight how they are contaminated and interconnected, proposing to the listener a musical experience that will lead him to lose ‘geographical’ reference points and appreciate the common Mediterranean matrix that characterises these only apparently distant musics.
The concert version lasts about an hour and a quarter, but can also be adapted for two 45-minute sets; it is preferable to have an acoustic piano, if it is an ‘antique’ piano, even better.
